"Arms Wide Open"
There's a song by Misty Edwards that always makes me cry when I sing to it. It's an amazing prophetic song and one of the lines goes;
"He had arms wide open, heart exposed."
This may not sound like much to people but this was something that I really needed and God spoke to me through it. It was speaking of the cross and, to me at least, the Prodigal Son.
When Christ was on the cross his arms were spread wide. This seems like a "normal thing" to us, we always see Him in this way. It's "Natural" that His arms are spread wide open. But when I think about it in that way, "wide open, heart exposed" I think of it in a new way. Showing his love in that way. Inviting us to see his heart and to cling to Him.
This goes with the Prodigal Son, where we see the Father opening His arms to invite us to embrace Him. Although we fled and defiled ourselves, God spread His arms open and showed us His heart, the heart of forgiveness and passionate love. I felt God speaking to me through this.
I have messed up time and time again. And I came to God repenting my sins, confessing my love to Him, and wanting to come back to my right relationship with Him once again. And he did not tell me to go. His arms were wide open. As on the cross and in the truth of His word. He spread open His arms to ME and asked me PERSONALLY to come into His arms and see His heart. This broke me down! Being broken by God...Is the most amazing feeling :)
I encourage everyone to listen to this song!
